After winning so many amateur titles and championships, Tiger Woods started his career as a professional golfer in August 1996. He signed contracts worth 40 million dollars with Nike Inc, and 20 million dollars worth deal with Titleist. He started his career by playing professional golf at the Greater Milwaukee Open, won two events within three months, and qualified for the Tour Championship. His hard work earned him the title of Sportsman of the Year 1996. He started wearing a red shirt during the final rounds, the red colour symbolizing aggression and assertiveness
In June 1999, Woods won the Memorial Tournament. He started 2000 with his fifth consecutive victory. He also won 2001 Masters Tournament. Between 2003 and 2004, he was not able to show his dominating edge. In the 2005 season, Woods returned to form and reclaimed the top spot for good player.
